Book of Jude Brad Anderson: Like us, Jude lived in an age which preferred toleration to truth, and regarded all religions as equally valid aspects of the quest for a supreme being. He calls upon his readers to reject the false teachers and to stand up for the true faith. Christian music is a very controversial issue within many churches today. Churches have split because of disagreements over the style of music the church uses or does not use. Focus is made on Church music and Personal music. This study will examine several significant actions Christians are to take toward one another to help build up the local church. As the individual members of the church implement these responsibilities, the church itself will become stronger.

Living by the rules
What Would You Do? An Activity for Youth Groups This activity presents students with different social justice-related scenarios, and requires them to work together to create responses. It is best for students who have some experience with Catholic social teaching and specific justice issues, as it involves the application of concepts in a practical way.
The activity is the most effective when the participating students have completed direct service to the poor recently. After working at a soup kitchen, housing rehabilitation group, nursing home or any other agency involved in service to the poor, this activity provides a way to move from doing service to thinking about – and in turn doing – social justice.

Whatever the size of your group, this lesson should be workable. Always ask for volunteers. Most kids get a kick out of acting, especially if they are allowed to be silly. Tell them to be dramatic, which tends to make it funny, as well as pointed. Also, before you begin, write out on separate cards or any piece of paper, the six bible verses. Hand out the bible verses to different kids to find ahead of time in their bible so that they are ready to read them when prompted by you after each skit.
Give actors and readers time to read over their lines so they are comfortable with the material. There are three verses to be read after each skit. Make no further comment after each reading. If there is only one leader, just hold an open discussion with the group. See leading questions at conclusion that will help you begin discussion for class interaction. How about a date?

If you are a student pastor or a leader in a youth group, you probably have been faced with this concept and question in your mind at some point. If you are a student reading this post, you probably have been faced with the frustration of the rules that a youth pastor or leader put on you for dating. You cannot control dating. That is a parent decision. It is not up to you to tell students that they cannot date someone of the opposite sex.
So, the answer to this blog post is fairly simple, you cannot control it, but I want to take this discussion to a different level, how do we approach dating in our youth group? I tend to take a more conservative approach to this than most. I look at teen dating as a waste of time, personally. Please do not be offended by that, but the odds are slim to none that a relationship in middle school and high school will continue.
Some do, and that is great, but many do not. More often, I see relationships built in student ministry, and then a result is horrible and ugly break ups that affect the friendships, cause drama and, in a lot of cases, tend to be uncomfortable for other students surrounding these dating issues. Teach the students and their parents that youth group is not a dating activity.
It is frustrating when you do a youth group activity , and you have a few couples who cannot bear the thought of leaving the side of their significant other some are in 8th grade! It is a group activity, so be a part of the group.

Bishop Joseph Mattera Is there a certain level of accountability with your church’s youth group and its leaders? Lightstock I write this in the context of having been a pastor for more then three decades as well as ministering in hundreds of local congregations. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly regarding youth groups. I learned a long time ago that just because your local church has a youth group, it is not always in the best interest of parents to encourage their children to attend it.
Also, in the case of functional Christian families, the parents have the primary responsibility of training their children—not the church youth group. In cases where kids come in without Christian families behind them, then the church has to attempt to disciple them without parental aid, which is extremely difficult. That being said, whether your child comes from a strong Christian family or not, a youth group can be a blessing or curse.
The following are the signs a youth group is bad for your child to attend:

Once during freshman year I was in my room doing homework and I got a text. By my freshman year, I became the guy who gave relationship advice to other guys because by then I had dated five girls. What if I gave my friends advice that would completely mess things up? But I know some basics:
Too often object lessons surrounding sex talks are meant to scare, belittle, shame, embarrass, and degrade Christians (usually christian girls). Don’t use any of these. We take water and spit phlegm in it and say – no one would ever want to drink this.
Invite each youth to introduce themselves with the following information: Have you ever had a date or dated someone? Why or why not. Personal Story In order to set the tone, briefly share your personal story as related to the topic. Also keep in mind that what you share will probably be shared with adults in the church. Boundaries Set the boundaries for the discussion. Confidence — what is shared here stays here, unless someone is going to hurt him or herself, is being hurt, or plans to hurt someone else.
Then the adult in the room will respond in a way that is respectful of what is best for the individuals involved. If something is shared that concerns you, please let the adults present know. No use of names — avoid gossip. We will not laugh at each other. Invite the youth to quietly read through the comments. During the discussion reference the Bible and church teachings related to the topic being discussed. After the discussion, ask the youth what comments are missing from the list.

Email Advertisement Do online dating websites work? To explore this topic, I pulled aside two individuals who I knew were hunting for a long-term relationship using online dating websites, and asked them about their experiences with the services.
